Game Selection |
|
By contract, the Green
athletic director is only required to cover all home and away high
school basketball and football games. However, all sports deserve equal
attention, thus it is the intention of the current athletic director to
go to ALL events whenever one is scheduled, unless there are two on the
same day at different locations. |
|
What if there are two games and both are away? |
The decision
as to which game is covered is left solely to the athletic
director's discretion. |
|
What if there is a home game and an away game on the same day? |
All home
games take priority. |
|
What if there are two home games, such as baseball and softball at
the same time? |
The AD will
go back and forth between the games to get equal coverage of both
events. |
|
What if both games are away at the same location? |
The AD will
go back and forth between the games to get equal coverage of both
events. |
|
|
Photos |
| Approximately
500 photos are taken at each event. Every effort is made to get photos
of each player that enters the game. Some players may get more photos
than others. However, it is mostly determined by the action on the field
and/or a little bit of luck. Not all photos make to this site. Only the
best are selected for publication. The rest are saved and could be used
later for various purposes (i.e., a promo for next year's contest with
the same team). |
|
Videos |
| The target
number for the videos is 30. Every effort is made to get at least 30
videos of the event. However, game circumstances and situations may
cause some games to have more or less videos. The videos are loaded to
Green's YouTube channel at greenbobcats1. The videos upload overnight
after the event and are usually available on our site by 6:30 AM on the
next day. Those who subscribe to the YouTube channel will see them as
they are loaded. In some cases, they will receive a notification when a
new one has finished loading. The thumbnail links of the videos are
posted on the site after all videos have loaded. |
|
Spectator Etiquette
|
| Spectator's
should keep the following in mind when trying to communicate with the
athletic director at an event. Any time the camera is in operation,
there is the chance that your voice could end up on the video if you are
speaking to the athletic director. If something inappropriate is spoken,
then it is likely that the video that was in progress will have to be
deleted. That is unfair to the student athletes, who may have done
something noteworthy at that time.
When the camera is in operation, as indicated by being help up, your
communication with the athletic director should be kept to a minimum as
a courtesy to the players, who look forward to seeing the results later
that night and the next day.
If communication is absolutely necessary, then
please wait for the athletic director to stop the camera before
initiating a conversation. Items discussed must be of immediate
importance and should not be trivial in nature. |
|
Spectator Photos
|
| Anyone
attending a Green Bobcats athletic event, whether at home or away, is
encouraged to share their event photos with us. This is especially the
case when the athletic director is not able to go to an away game due to
there being a home game taking place at the same time. Anyone submitting
photos used on the site will receive proper credit. |
|
Requests for Specific
Pictures |
All players
are equal. Anyone entering the game has an equal chance of having their
picture taken and/or appearing in a video. No favoritism is shown for
any player, regardless of ability or playing time. Thus, we cannot take
requests for specific pictures, which would be unfair to the other
players.
We do not take requests for the creation of picture CDs
and/or video DVDs. The time and cost involved in that undertaking is
simply too much for the athletic director to be expected to do. All
pictures and videos are free to the public and anyone may download them
from this site. |
|
Upload Time |
| Once an event
has ended, the athletic director collects the stat summary sheet from
the statistician and departs the event. Once arriving at his home, the
athletic director immediately begins uploading the photos and videos
from the game. Additionally, a page for the game and lettering for the
front page photo must also take place. This process, beginning to end,
takes approximately 90 minutes. Only emergency issues from coaches and
school administrators will be addressed at this time. All other
communication attempts will be politely ignored so that our student
athletes have the best chance of seeing themselves on the site before
they go to sleep that night. In some cases, they can see themselves on
their cell phones on the bus ride home from the event (depending on the
distance). |

Facebook |
| The comments feature on our Facebook has
been disabled so that we may avoid having any inappropriate comments
being displayed for any length of time. The athletic director does not
have the time needed to monitor the Facebook page 24 hours a day. |

Twitter |
| We do not allow comments on our Twitter
feed for the same reason that we do not allow comments on our Facebook
page. The Twitter feed shows up on the front page of our web site, which
is viewed in more than 10 countries per week. We cannot take the risk of
having any inappropriate language appear on our site. |
